Ankole Adventures is a small friendly English / Ugandan owned company catering for small groups and individuals requiring a unique insight into the wildlife, culture and scenery of East Africa. We run high quality affordable camping or lodge safaris and tours through Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
Uganda has lots to interest its growing number of visitors. At Ankole Adventures we offer Classic Big Game Safaris, Gorilla Tracking, Birdwatching Tours, Chimpanzee Trekking, Big Game Fishing and Whitewater Rafting the Nile.

We have our offices in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda and most tours start there. All of the tours and activities we offer can be enjoyed in Uganda, but we can also take you to the best of Kenya and Tanzania too. If you long to see 1000?s of Wildebeest in the Masai Mara or Serengeti, the lost world of the Ngorongoro Crater, Climb Kilimanjaro or relax on the Pristine Beaches of The Indian Ocean we will arrange it for you?.
We love Uganda and you will too. Our tours are small friendly and sensibly paced for your enjoyment. We don?t do ?cattle class? and drive all day from one end of the country to the other without breaks or stopovers at points of interest.
We have our own Safari Resort. On beautiful Lake Bunyonyi Southwest Uganda close to the Mountain Gorillas in the Virunga Volcanoes. You will enjoy the peace and serenity to relax before and after Goriila Tracking in Bwindi, Mgahinga or Parc des Volcans national Parks.

For a tailor made safari we would need to have advance notice and detailed information such as: your main interests (wildlife, birds, fishing for example), the number of people in your party, the number of vehicles you require, a plan of your route and stopover points if you know these, your accommodation/dietary requirements and other information. As an experienced local operator, we can fine tune your ideas and make it happen for you. If you don?t know all these things tell us what you do and we will help and advise you. Please contact us as soon as possible to begin arrangements.
To make sure you are always in good hands we will even arrange transport from Entebbe International Airport to your hotel. If you want to stay your first day in Kampala a tour of local landmarks and places of interest can be arranged for you. Kampala is a great place to experience the theatre, nightlife or buy some unique gifts and crafts as a memento of your time in Africa. Then we head out to the beautiful and dramatic countryside for a "Drive on the Wildside...".

Why did I start the company?
I came to Uganda in 1990 as a volunteer teacher. I knew Uganda was a wonderful country with friendly people, plus fabulous wildlife and landscapes. I tried to find a way of seeing this wildlife and landscape first hand, especially the National Parks. However with limited funds myself and limited tourist infrastructure it was not possible. I ended up on a cheap safari in Kenya, scruffy campsites, awful food and dysentery! Four years later I tried again with a friend. Tourist infrastructure was improved, if you could afford luxury lodge safaris! We hired the best vehicle we could find and afford (it looked great from the exterior). It was a mechanical disaster! It used 200 litres of fuel in 3 days. We had to leave the park every day to refuel, or we would be stranded! We actually had only four hours of game viewing per day!!
However the scenery was amazing and animals were plentiful.
I started Ankole Adventures to open up Uganda to a wider audience. We don't claim to be luxury, but we will provide you with high standards of care, a warm welcome, clean comfortable camps or lovely wilderness lodges, staff who love Uganda and itineraries chosen to maximise your enjoyment of the country.
