Uganda's Nile Perch fishing is outstanding and is done around the 84 islands of the Ssesse group on Lake Victoria AND at Murchison Falls on the Nile.
Also present are large Vundu and Bagrus Catfish. At Murchison Falls there is excellent sport with Tiger Fish on lighter tackle..
The Ssesse Islands are 55 km from Entebbe where all international flights arrive/depart. Most of the islands are covered in thick, tropical forest; home to monkeys and many species of bird; and are mostly uninhabited, apart from a few local fishing villages. One of the islands, Ngamba is now a sanctuary for orphan chimps and those recovered from illegal poaching. Our fishing tours are based from the lovely tented safari camp there or at Islands Club Resort on Kalangala Island. The Islands Club is classic simplicity set against a background of rainforest and with white sandy beach. One thing commented upon is the tranquility and the number of stars to be seen in skies without the urban light pollution we are used to.
Nile Perch are mostly caught by trolling large lures.We can also fish by live baiting, shore casting lures and fly fishing (for which guests must bring their own equipment). We respond to our clients wishes as much as possible so you can fish your way.
Fish of around 70kg are frequent but as with all fishing nothing is guaranteed. The Guinness Book of Records lists a Perch of 232kg caught by local commercial fisherman.

The Murchison Falls National Park in Northwest Uganda. Famous for its thundering waterfall where the Nile is reduced to 7metres wide, Bird life, Hippos and some of the largest Crocodiles in Africa.
Oh. you want to know about the fish. Well they are fabulous, large, fit and full of fight. Just how you like them. Casting in the turbulent waters from the bank or static boat is thrilling and seems more of a personal natural experience than trolling. You never know whether you will get a vicious tug from a Tiger fish, or heave into a massive Nile Perch. Fish to 102kg have been taken here. This is a great place for the fly fisherman using a heavy reservoir rod or tarpon/salmon rod. The keen light tackle lure fishers will enjoy this place too.If you would also like to fish for catfish up to 50kg this is also the place. Large deadbaits, artificial baits and pieces of meat all work.

So why should I fish Nile Perch in Uganda? It?s not the only place in Africa to catch these great fish, but Uganda is truly a wonderful country full of friendly people and teeming with a vast variety of animals and birds in stunning landscapes. We think as an all round experience Uganda is the best place. Plus the local fishermen pull out some monsters well above the rod caught world record (Guinness book of Records 232kg from Lake Victoria). There must be one in there with your name on it...

Accommodation: We choose excellent tented camps on Lake Victoria and approved Lodges or our Mobile Tented Camp at Murchison Falls.Most have very good washing facilities, showers flushing toilets and comfortable rooms. Our tented camp is a great way to get closest to the river and experience African Safari the original Clarke Gable, Great Mogambo way. Simpler accommodation but a great atmosphere campfires and sounds of the bush.
